Announcing Storytelling Parade 2014.
Bad news is easy to come by—in the newspaper, on screen, over radio waves, saturating our media: the world is a troubled place, and it seems like this is something which we’ve grown all too familiar hearing.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
We don’t have to stick our heads in the sand. We don't have to hide to drown out all that negative noise.
We are the media makers.
There are people who see the world’s ills and devote themselves to changing it.
There are organizations who restlessly work to shine the light of hope into our planet’s darkest corners.
Why don’t we hear their stories?
As a community of storytellers, we have a tremendous power to tell the kinds of stories that are rarely told.
Let's come together, share everything we've learned—pool not just our resources, but our passion and power as filmmakers—to tell the stories of those who are dedicating their lives to making a difference.
To sparking a fire in others to do the same.
To making the world a better place.
Because, by their nature, stories have the potential to bring us together—just, unfortunately, as they do to tear us apart.
After all, storytelling is a part of us. All of us. It's imprinted in our DNA, built into our bones.
Storytelling creates communities, shows us there is strength in numbers, lets us know that we shouldn't take our natural powers lightly.
It's why Peter Parker's Uncle Owen commented so succinctly: "With great power comes great responsibility." Spider-Man, with all of his radioactive might, took that to heart.
And so should we.
Together, let's use our power for good.
Introducing Storytelling Parade
It's a filmmaking contest with heart.
Over the course of 7 weeks we’ll create films—we’ll tell the amazing stories—of people who inspire others to believe in incredible causes, of organizations who make the world a better place for all of us.
And in doing so, you can enter to win part of $100,000+ of filmmaking prizes in the process.
From companies to individuals, from those working to champion the arts to those championing for a greener earth—when it comes to telling the untold stories of people doing something, anything, to make a difference, there is no story too small to tell, no story too big to touch one heart—only one—and change the world for good.
We've already had filmmakers join from all over Australia, the US, Canada, Vietnam, Denmark, Germany, Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Pakistan, and Finland, to name but a few—add your voice to our international chorus, and together the volume of the good we proclaim will ring so much more loudly!
